EPIC for CO2 Water Alternating Gas (WAG) Injection Pilot Project at Dukhan

1. HVAC Equipment Installation This phase involves the physical placement and integration of primary cooling and ventilation units. Unit Placement: Rigging and mounting of AHUs (Air Handling Units), ACCUs (Air Cooled Condensing Units), or Package Units on reinforced foundations or roof curbs. Vibration Isolation: Using spring mounts or inertia bases to prevent mechanical noise and structural wear. Connection: Final piping connections for refrigerant or chilled water and electrical power termination.

2. Internal Ductwork & Insulation Ductwork in a WAG pilot facility must be airtight to maintain pressure differentials and energy efficiency. Material: Usually Galvanized Iron (GI) or Stainless Steel (SS), depending on the proximity to corrosive elements. Insulation: Application of internal acoustic liners or external thermal insulation (fiberglass or elastomeric foam) to prevent condensation and heat gain. Sealing: Use of UL-listed sealants on all transverse joints and longitudinal seams to minimize leakage.

3. Air Side Materials & Components Precision in air distribution ensures the safety of personnel and the longevity of the equipment. Dampers: * Volume Control Dampers (VCDs): For balancing airflow. Fire & Smoke Dampers: Essential for safety, integrated with the Fire Alarm System to prevent the spread of smoke through the duct network. Non-Return Dampers: To prevent backdrafts in ventilation outlets. Air Terminals: Grilles and Registers: Adjustable blades for directing airflow. Louvers: External weather louvers designed to allow airflow while rejecting sand and rainwater—a critical feature for the Dukhan climate.
